LAKE | STARS | ACCESSIBILITY | NOTES |
Artist | 5 | Easy from OSA / Muriel | No campgrounds: this is one you have to visit or pass through. Lovely lake, shallow and full of lillies, but enough water to be easy to get around. |
Bell | 2 | Very easy. | OK as an introduction, but otherwise unexciting |
Fish Lake | 4 | 3km portage to Great Mountain, or from Howry Creek from the West | Not very busy! Quiet camping and some good side trips. Lots of wildlife. |
Killarney | 5 | Very Easy from George Lake | The campsites are big and gorgeous and the views are outstanding. Great access to day trips |
Muriel | 3 | Easy from OSA | Good position for day trips. Good for spotting bats in the evening. |
OSA | 5 | Easy from George via Killarney | Very difficult to get a camp site, but gorgeous. Easy access to lots of other great spots. |
Ruth Roy | 4 | Easy from | |
Threenarrows | 2 | Difficult. The 3km portage from Killarney Lake is a lot more pleasant than the 2km "Pig" from Artist. | It has cottages on it, and scenery is not remarkable. I wouldn't bother going there again. |
The fun is solitary camping, and traveling at walking pace watching the water, the sky and the shoreline. These pages are what we have learned to help other newbies enjoy Ontario back-country canoe camping.

Here I will rate some of the lakes I have visited with notes that may help you decide whether to visit them or not.
